Flight Chaos Today at Irish Airports

Image by Martin O’Connell via Flickr Flights heading in and out of Irish airports are facing massive disruption today over planned strikes by air traffic controllers. Dublin, Shannon and Cork airports are set to shut down for up to 4 hours as workers protest over a 6% pay increase. Ryanair’s cancellation of 48 flights will affect 6,000 passengers.

Strike Update: Ireland’s airports won’t be striking next week.  The planned work stoppage for March 30th has been called off.

Irish Airport Workers Set to Strike Next Monday

Passengers travelling to Cork, Shannon and Dublin Airports should prepare themselves for flight disruption next week.  Airport workers’ trade union, SIPTU has just announced that its members are due to stage an eight-hour work stoppage on March 30th. SIPTU represents workers in the airport’s fire, police and security services
