Dollar Rent A Car grows in Oman

Salalah Dollar Rent A Car, a subsidiary of the Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, has reported a 65 per cent growth for the first half of 2010 in Oman compared to the first six months of 2009. At the end of 2009, the company experienced 55 per cent growth in comparison to the last part of 2008.

Avis plans £151m rights issue

CAR rental group Avis Europe has announced plans to raise £151m from shareholders with a rights issue. The issue has already won the the backing of Brussels motoring services firm D’Ieteren, which owns 60 per cent of the company.

Rental car biz revs up (AsiaOne)

DEMAND for rental cars is revving up, thanks largely to a growing expatriate community and, to a lesser extent, rising tourist numbers. According to the Land Transport Authority (LTA), there are now about 13,000 rental cars here – 68 per cent more than there were just five years ago.
