Car rental companies Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, Inc. (DTG) and Avis Budget Group, Inc. (CAR) said Tuesday that they believe substantial progress has been made in talks with the Federal Trade Commission on the competitive issues regarding Avis Budget’s potential acquisition of Dollar Thrifty, but the FTC’s position with respect to the issues remains uncertain.
